Meditation: The Key to Self-Discovery

Article Pic

JANICE CHRYSLER: Our time here on earth is a journey of discovery in diverse areas of life. Every challenge has a meaning and a purpose. Perhaps there is a pattern that needs to be examined in order to stop it from repeating, every triumph a stepping-stone guiding us through rough waters, changes leading us down a new and exciting path.

From the time we are born until we leave this earthly plane we are to explore, experiment, and experience life. Just as we develop physically and emotionally we need to feed and nurture our Spiritual Self. Within each and every one of us is a desire to connect with our spiritual self (known as our Higher Self) and a Higher Power. By putting our intent on making this connection we manage to raise our vibration in order to become more in tune with the world around us, the Universe and the Divine.

Spiritual Growth is our personal exploration of discovering a connection with our Higher Self and to a Higher Power within and without. At first it may appear too big a chasm to cross but meditation creates the bridge joining our true self to the spiritual realm. There are many forms of meditation but the goal is the same; relaxing our physical and emotional bodies in order that we will uncover and discover our Higher Self, realize our purpose and begin to manifest what we desire. Whether we choose to do chanting in a group, silently repeat a personal mantra or listen to a guided meditation, we will be assisting ourselves in raising our own spiritual vibration, the vibration of those around us and in turn that of the earth and universe.

We need to remember that everyday holds something to be grateful for, something to be learned and shared with others, and an opportunity to be kind to someone, including ourselves. By connecting with the Divine through love, compassion and understanding, we will be able to love and nurture ourselves more and then be able to connect in a more meaningful way to those around us.

The wonderful thing about Spiritual growth is we can never get enough and we can never use it up as it is always expanding. The more positive we are and in control of our thoughts, the more positive energy will be attracted to us. It is a wonderful circle that keeps growing; the more we put out the more we get! If things do not seem to be going so well, we need to stop and reflect on just how our thought process is working at this particular moment in time. Perhaps we have not allowed ourselves to be one with Spirit and in the process the connection has been temporarily dropped. During this time it is as though we have lost the signal and we no longer are able to hear messages or guidance.

Sounds like our cell phones needing to be recharged doesn't it? In a way it is. Whenever we feel like the lines are down remember they are only temporarily out of service and can be up and running whenever we decide to do the repairs. Take time to plug into this energy source and soon we will be recharged and ready to go!

As we continue on our path, we may need to remind ourselves that not everyone is at the same point in his or her personal awareness. When it comes down to it, life is a road we travel alone as each of us experiences life in our own way, time and level of awareness.

Since wisdom and understanding come to us through our accepting of our Higher Self and the Divine, it is important to strengthen this line of communication. Meditation allows us to enter our own sacred space, a spiritual sanctuary within, where this connection can be established and developed. We will then experience increasing insights, revelations and expanded awareness. Before long we will begin to view the earth, nature and the universe with new eyes and openness. Once on this journey we will find ourselves always seeking more and challenging ourselves to go even further. We are so much more that we can imagine. The key that unlocks the door of self-discovery is already in our hands, we just need to use it!

Namaste
